64B Restoration April 2010

Continuing restoration of a 64B started late last year. One of the first steps was a repair of the floorboards. The driver side had rust through which has been repaired using fiberglass over the rust through area and was coated with POR-15 over most of the floor board and then painted with tartan red spray paint. Passenger side did have a few pin holes but overall was intact so it was coated with POR-15 and painted as well.

Driver side after (a bit dirty now that I am working on the carpets:

Seats have also been redone - previous owner had creatively replaced the rubber support with a firm plasterboard material which I have removed and restored to original design:

Some work has been done in the engine compartment although that has not been the focus yet.

Last fall picture, starting work on exhaust/intake manifolds including replacing a few studs, one already broken and one that I broke in removal:

Picture from yesterday - hydraulics have been restored with newly painted pedal cover, clutch and master cylinder rebuilt (along with slave and wheel cylinders). Carbs are in position but not bolted in as I will rebuild them after I finish mounting the seats.

Pedals had to be replaced. The previous owner had them extended, another creative modification, to add about 4" to accommodate a shorter driver or so I heard. Yet the accelerator pedal was not??

Another upcoming repair will be the trunk. The original latch was broken and a replacement I picked up might be a BGT latch, a bit shorter so it doesn't latch.
